Substance Use Disorder Services
As of 07/01/2022, Aitkin County Health & Human Services no longer completes Rule 25 Chemical Use Assessments or Comprehensive Assessments. Aitkin County does however, provide treatment funding through the Direct Access Program.
Program Eligibility – Aitkin County Health & Human Services can assist residents with substance use treatment funding if they:
- Are a county resident;
- Do not have existing insurance that will pay for treatment services;
- Meet the State income and household size guidelines.
Direct Access Program – Allows individuals to complete a Comprehensive Assessment with a treatment provider of their choice to expedite access to recommended treatment services.
Treatment Coordination – In addition to providing treatment funding, Aitkin County can also provide Treatment Coordination services once a Comprehensive Assessment has been completed.
Prepetition Screening for Civil Commitments – The Substance Use Disorder Unit is responsible for coordinating prepetition screening for judicial commitment when an examiner’s statement in support of commitment is received from a physician or psychiatrist, who believes an individual is a danger to themselves or others due to their substance use under Minnesota Statute 253B.
