Wine License Application/Renewal Process
Current License Holder: A renewal application will be mailed to you the first week of November or you can access it here. Current licenses expire December 31st at midnight.
New License Applicant: Application and forms available below.
PLEASE READ AND COMPLETE THE APPLICATION THOROUGHLY
- Signature of Applicant, this should be the owner’s name or president’s name if a partnership or corporation.
- The Auditor’s Office will assist with the County Sheriff’s signature and County Attorney’s signature.
- Payment must accompany the application - the fee for a Wine License is $100. Make checks payable to Aitkin County Auditor.
Consent of Town Board
- Contact the Town Clerk immediately to be placed on their agenda; Town Board approval is required prior to returning to the Auditor’s Office.

- Complete all lines required.
- List Applicant’s Name and Business Name as on Application. If you have coverage, complete all information that is requested.

- Complete all information
- Personal information if sole ownership
- Contact person information if partnership or corporation is license holder.
- Must have applicant/president’s date of birth.
- Business Information premise information for establishment to be licensed.
APPLICATION FOR RETAILER’S (BUYER) CARD FOR LIQUOR OR WINE
- Complete and return with application along with $20 fee addressed to: DPS, Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division
CERTIFICATE OF LIQUOR LIABILITY INSURANCE - REQUIRED
- The name on the insurance certificate must match exactly with the Applicant Name on the application.
- Coverage term: the current date to December 31st to coincide with the license period.
- Certificate to be in favor of Aitkin County, not Liquor Control.
REQUEST TO SELL INTOXICATING MALT LIQUOR IN CONJUNCTION WITH ON-SALE 3.2 BEER AND ON-SALE WINE LICENSE
- Complete Application if requesting to sell Intoxicating Malt Liquor (Strong Beer) in conjunction with Wine License.
- Must have Liquor Liability Insurance.
Upon receipt of all completed documents, the Auditor’s Office will submit the application to the County Board of Commissioners for approval and the State Liquor Control Board for approval. Please allow ample time.
ALL FORMS MUST BE PROCESSED AND A LICENSE ISSUED PRIOR TO SELLING LIQUOR.
