The Land Department manages four campgrounds around Aitkin County. They are located in Aitkin, Palisade, Jacobson, and just south of McGrath. All of these campgrounds are located on rivers. Three are on the Mississippi River and one is on the Snake River. The campground facilities are open from May 1st to October 15th. Reservations are accepted, however, the site must be paid for before the reservation can be accepted.

Because of the various insects and diseases that are around the United States, we are asking you not to bring in firewood to our campgrounds except from a certified firewood seller. Insects love to nestle in the firewood, so please help us protect our trees in the county by not bringing firewood into the county. Thanks.

Jacobson CampsiteEach of our campground has a map that you can look at along with information on camping. Click on the campground of choice and you will go to the information page for that campground.

REMEMBER:   Please do not bring uncertified firewood into the County with you. Only purchase firewood from a certified firewood reseller to use in Aitkin County campgrounds. Thank you for your help in protecting our trees.
