The Human Resources Department is responsible for coordinating and processing all personnel transactions within the county.

To apply for a posted position with Aitkin County, you must fill out an application; resumes will not be accepted in lieu of an application. Completed applications must be received by the Aitkin County Human Resources Department by 4:30 p.m. on the closing date.  No late applications will be considered.

Additionally, applications are only accepted for open jobs. When there are no positions open, Aitkin County will not accept and hold applications on file for future positions.

Engineering Tech or Sr. Engineering Technician

Aitkin County is accepting applications for a full-time Engineering Tech or Sr. Engineering Technician. Duties/responsibilities include performance of technical work relating to surveying, design, and construction of highways. Requires a two year degree or higher from a Civil Engineering Technology program OR five years experience as a Civil technician (10 yrs exp for the Sr. level position), and a valid driver’s license. AutoCAD and excellent computer skills desired. $17.80/hr to $19.30/hr (Sr.) starting. Long Lake Conservation Center (LLCC) is seeking candidates for seasonal naturalist positions. Seasonal Naturalists at LLCC both learn and teach. They learn through observation of and interaction with our creative and dynamic staff of Naturalists. They teach by sharing knowledge with students, and also by bringing fresh insights and individual expertise to our community. Summer Naturalist for Long Lake Conservation Center

Long Lake Conservation Center (LLCC) is looking for enthusiastic, outdoors people to serve as Summer Naturalists—this could be the perfect job for a naturalist, a rugged outdoors person, or anyone in between. LLCC is Minnesota's original conservation education summer camp (40+ years), and a leader in outdoor education. Summer camp sessions include:
    Outdoor Explorers camp serves campers who have completed 4th -7th grade;
    Forkhorn I & II camps are designed for beginning hunters ages 11-16.
    Fishing Camp is for young outdoors people who enjoy the water ages 11-13

Assistant Summer Program Director for Long Lake Conservation Center

Long Lake Conservation Center (LLCC) is hiring an assistant summer program director for our summer camp programs. 2015 summer camp sessions include: Outdoor Explorers is a residential camp which serves campers who have completed 4th through 7th grade; Forkhorn I & II camps are designed for beginning hunters ages 11-16. The period of employment will be approximately June 8 – early August 2015. Aitkin County is accepting applications for Seasonal (67 day) Park Laborers to perform maintenance and groundskeeping duties at county park facilities and tax-forfeited properties. Must be 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or GED, and be available for work as scheduled between May and mid October 2015. $12.00/hour. Preference will be given to candidates who have groundskeeping, facility maintenance, and carpentry experience. Valid MN driver’s license required. Part Time Boat and Water Safety Officers

Aitkin County is accepting applications for part-time Boat & Water Safety Officers to patrol lakes and assist in the enforcement of boat and water laws, approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid MN driver’s license. Seeking candidates who hold a watercraft operators permit and who are enrolled in a law enforcement program or who hold a peace officer license from the Minnesota POST Board (Board of Peace Officer Standards & Training). $13.30/hour.
