Snowmobile Winter Conditions in Aitkin County
We did get some snow from this last snow storm.
Clubs are going out trying to groom, but with the warm weather and only
getting 6" in some areas and less in others, trail riding may be
minimal. You should contact each club for their riding conditions as
even in the county we recieved differing amounts of snow. The trails are open
for riding.
Please remember that alot of our trails
go across private land. The easements are for December 1st to March
31st. It is through the generosity of other people that we have the
snowmobile trails that we have. All it takes, is one person to be out
riding on someone's fields for the landowner to say, we are not going to
allow the trail to go across our land anymore. Then we have a closed
segment of trail until the club members can talk someone into letting us
use their land for the trail. The club members may not be able to reopen
that segment of trail at all. Please stay on the trails.
Hope you enjoy riding the trails this year, but remember during
the snowmobile season to
stay on the trails. We don't want to lose
any of our trails due to people riding on private lands off trail.
We have several clubs in Aitkin County that maintain trails.
Below are the contacts for those clubs. Please, if you ride the trails,
join a club and help volunteer to maintain the trails. Your help is
needed to keep the trails nice. All of the clubs volunteer labor to keep
the trails nice and they need you for help too. Please consider joining
a club.
