Sealed Bid Regular Timber Auction

This is to notify that the Aitkin County Land Department (ACLD) will be holding a sealed bid regular timber auction on August 25th, 2010 at 10:00 AM. ACLD will sell to the highest bidder, regardless of the number of employees, timber as indicated on the described parcels of land that have forfeited to the State for the nonpayment of taxes. The sale information on the parcels of timber follows. The following conditions will apply on this auction:
            1.         Timber will be sold to the highest bidder for not less than the total appraised tract value. A percent bid must be indicated for the total appraised tract value. This percent will be applied to each bid species. Percent bid can be in a tenth of a percent (ex: 43.5%). Aitkin County reserves the right to accept or reject all bids.
            2.         Cutting shall be in conformity with the forestry practices as outlined in the timber permit / appraisal. Bidders are responsible for getting maps, cutting regulations, contract information, and special regulations at the Aitkin County Land Department. Access to the permit areas shall be the responsibility of the successful bidder. Bidder also agrees to the attached cutting regulations. Contact the Land Department about the possibility of assistance on access road development on individual tracts.            3.         All bid forms must be received in the Aitkin County Land Department at 209 2nd St. NW Room 206 Aitkin, Mn.  56431 by 10:00 am on August 25th, 2010. All bids must be on an official bid form and sealed in an envelope with ‘timber bid’ on the outside along with your bid bond check. Additional bid forms are available on the web site. Anyone wishing to watch the opening may attend. The opening will be in the Aitkin County Board Room at 10:00 AM on August 25th, 2010.
            4.         NEW FOR THIS YEAR –
           A $500.00 bid bond check payable to the Aitkin County Land Department must be included in the envelope with the bid form. One bid bond will cover all of the tract bids and will be returned if no bids are awarded. The $500.00 bid bond will be retained until receipt of the required downpayment for the tracts awarded. Failure to make the required downpayment on time, may result in the forfeiture of the $500.00 bid bond.
            5.         Should the successful bidder not submit the balance of the down payment on time, the sale may be awarded the next highest bidder. In the case of a tie bid, the successful bidder will be decided by a game of chance.
            6.         Submission of a bid indicates that a logger has inspected the sale and is knowledgeable of all sale regulations.
            7.                  Permit will only be issued in the name identified as the successful bidder.
            8.                  Payment of the full price of the sale plus a performance bond or payment equaling 10% of the total bid price, must be made prior to cutting. The performance bond will be kept by the County and will be returned upon satisfactory completion of the sale, as judged by the County Forester when notified of the sale completion. The Land Department should be notified of the completion of the sale within 30 days after cutting.
            9.                  A one year extension will be granted at the discretion of the County Forester. The fee for the extension is 10% of the uncut balance, as determined from the County Land Office sale record or $20.00 whichever is greater.
            10.              No bid will be accepted from any bidder having a delinquent or uncollectible timber sale account with any county or state or from a bidder involved with a pending timber trespass with the county or state.
           
11.              Aitkin County does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age or disability in employment and the provision of services.

Timber offered at this sale is from Forest Land independently certified by SmartWood in accordance with the rules of the Forest Stewardship Council  (SW-FM-COC-000028).
            13.             
On each site there is a GPS coordinate location. That will get you to the general area, then you need to use the map and aerial photo to locate the exact sale lines.
