ATV trails - Aitkin County is working with MN DNR to expand designated ATV trails in our area. June 8th will see the two new connector trails opening in the Northwoods Regional ATV trail system (Hill City and Blind Lake). Follow this site for the dates of openings for the new trails.
Stay on the trail – off trail travel is not allowed!
Forest roads
- The forest roads are also not open for ATV riding until the roads dry
up. Please use good judgment riding on them. Forest roads are not ATV trails but are open to ATV use
as long as no damage occurs to them from this use. Trail riding is better suited for designated ATV
trails.
Aitkin County lands are classified as limited relative to ATV use. This
means that unless an area is posted open for ATV's, it is closed. We
have many forest roads that are open to ATV use - look for the green
sign that indicates the road is open to ATV
use.
