ATV riding in Aitkin County -
Northwoods Regional ATV Trail
Aitkin County maintains over 100 miles of designated
ATV trails
for the summer voyagers, including the Soo Line trails, Rabey Line
trail, the
Blind Lake
ATV trail,
Redtop Loop
trail near McGrath, and the new Lawler Loop.
Trails may be closed at any time during the year
without notice if the trail conditions dictate such. The notice will be
put onto our web page as soon as possible.
Aitkin County is working on establishing a 70 mile ATV trail
incorporating both the North and South Soo Line trails along with loops
off of both. The trail is named the Northwoods Regional ATV trail. The
loop in the Solana Forest is not open yet as the DNR is still
building it. Hopefully this one will be open late summer. Once this
one is open, a map of that trail will be available on the web site too. For further
information please go to this site:

The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners has passed a
resolution designating Aitkin County Lands as a limited use for ATV's.
That means that unless it is posted as open for ATVing, it is closed.
Look for the open signs on our forest roads to see what is open and
available to ride on. A map of these areas will be available in the
future, once all the signs are up. for more information on ATVing on
Aitkin County tax forfeited lands, please
click here and print out our
information poster on it.
