Early Childhood Screening
What is Early Childhood
Screening (ECS)?
The purpose of ECS is to identify those children who may be in need of further assessment in the following areas: development, vision, hearing, and health.
ECS Staff educate parents about early childhood development.
ECS provides parents with information about community resources in the area of education, child care, medical health, and family support services.
Aitkin
County's Early Childhood Screening is a cooperative effort of the Aitkin
County School Districts' Early Childhood Staff, School Nurses, Speech Clinicians,
Aitkin County Public Health Staff, and Head Start Staff to assess the areas
of development, vision, hearing and health in Aitkin County children ages
3-1/2--5. An ECS is required for kindergarten entrance.
