The Great American Smokeout "Challenge" 2010...
Although
this page is outdated, it contains useful information for people
wanting to quit smoking. Therefore, we have kept it available to
visitors to our site.
The
Great American Smokeout is in November. Public Health is challenging
every tobacco user in Aitkin County to make the COMMIT TO QUIT. Leading the way is Public Health’s own Jody Philipp, who will
blog her experiences right here! We are challenging other Quitters to
join in blogging, former smokers to offer tips and advice on the blog,
and everyone to offer support to all of those Proud to Quit in 2010!
Riverwood
HealthCare, and SHIP (the State Health Improvement Project), the American
Lung Association and Medica will be joining us and co-sponsoring a Commit
to Quit Event at Riverwood HealthCare on November 18th. Registration
displays for the event will be placed around the county. If you are
not able to join the party, you may fill out the registration form and
have an information packet sent to you with tips for quitting, information
about online programs, health plan services, services for the uninsured
and underinsured, prescription therapies and nicotine replacement therapies.
A general overview of this information will be covered in local newspapers.
E-mail Stacey Ruschmeier, Public Health Educator, if you would like
to assist by putting another face to the Commit to Quit with Jody during your quitting process.
Good luck on your endeavors!
